Wilhelmenia Marie “Dottie” Jenkins Finley was born June 30, 1946, in Ardmore, to Wilbur and Emma Lee Jenkins. She was adopted to Henry and Iola Jones at the age of 9 weeks old. She passed away May 31, 2014, in Ardmore.

Dottie attended Douglass High School, and graduated in 1964. She was a class PTA Queen, a majorette and active in several school organizations. She loved her school and her community. Dottie attended Langston University and Murray State College. Dottie graduated from vo-tech in culinary art (cooking). She taught school at Mentha Mitchell Varner Head Start. She spent her lifetime helping others in one way or another.

Dottie joined Corinth Baptist Church at an early age. She was active in the Baptist Training Union, usher board and served as president of the Chickasaw District Youth. She loved her church home and church family.

She was preceded in death by her biological parents, as well as, her adoptive parents; two sisters, Saundra Love and Roza Taylor; her brother, Orville Earl Woodley; two relatives, Minnie Hooper and Mary Helen Jackson; and special friend, Mig Montgomery.

She leaves to cherish her memories her husband, Aaron, one daughter, Kimberly, and one son, Ronald, all of Ardmore; five stepsons, Aaron Jr., Mark, Darrell, Marvin and Maurice, all of Oklahoma City; one brother, Ronald Lee Johnson; one sister, Willette “Bucky” Pirtle Shareef; an adopted brother and wife, Samuel (Helen) McNeal; two special close friends, Mary Louise Gordon Kennedy and Ann Walker; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. today at Corinth Baptist Church.

Services will be 11 a.m. Friday, June 6, 2014, at Corinth Baptist Church, with Pastor Abraham Walton officiating.
