The list just keeps getting longer.


Oklahoma gymnast Lara Albright and wrestler Kendric Maple were named to the 2014 Capital One Academic All-America® Division I Men’s and Women’s At-Large teams, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Both Albright and Maple were selected to the Capital One All-District At-Large team for District 7 last month.


Together, Albright and Maple have had one of the most successful academic and athletic spring seasons in OU history. The duo both earned athletic All-America honors this season and have each been named academic All-Americans, NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship winners, Big 12 Dr. Prentice Gautt Scholarship winners.


The award caps a spectacular season for Albright, who was named a first-team All-American on floor exercise at the 2014 NCAA Championships. Albright’s performance aided her team to the program’s first-ever national title with an NCAA Championship-record 198.175. She has been accepted to law school and will pursue her J.D. this fall at Southern Methodist University.


Maple finished his OU wrestling career as a three-time All-American and a 2013 NCAA individual champion for Oklahoma. He placed eighth at the 2014 NCAA Championships and is currently in pursuit of his Master's in Higher Education from the University of Oklahoma. In his master's program, Maple holds a 4.0 GPA. After Maple finishes his second degree, he hopes to become a college wrestling coach or go back to school for physical therapy.


The at-large team for the Capital One Academic All-America® program includes the sports of fencing, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse rifle, skiing, swimming and diving, tennis, water polo for both men and women; and bowling, rowing and field hockey for women; and volleyball and wrestling for men.
