  • Ardmore police are asking the public’s help in identifying a lone burglar who used his pickup to break into a North Commerce Street store early Sunday.
Reports indicate officers responded to a burglar alarm at 2:55 a.m. in the 1600 block of North Commerce Street. Detective Larry Payne, APD Criminal Investigations Division, who leads the investigation, said when officers arrived, a white man could be seen inside the business. The man fled as police entered the building.
The suspect was seen running to pickup, which was parked at a nearby business. He jumped in the pickup, which is described as a 1980s or ’90s model, white, single cab, long-bed Ford, and managed to escape.
The actual burglary was apparently thwarted by the arrival of police. However, an estimated $5,000 in damage was done to the building. Payne said surveillance video shows the suspect “gained entry” to the store by using his truck to ram an overhead delivery door located in the back of the building.
The public is urged to carefully look at the photos from the store’s surveillance video. Anyone who believes they know who the suspect is or recognize the pickup, are urged to contact Payne at police headquarters by calling at (580) 223-1212.
