  • Joyce Ann Allen, 74, passed away on Tuesday, June 17, 2014, at Ardmore. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 21, 2014, at McLish Avenue Church of Christ, with James Stewart, minister, officiating. Interment to follow at Burneyville Cemetery.
    Joyce was born on May 7, 1940, to Simon Gooden and Helen Bernice (Bowles) Gooden at Ardmore. She graduated from Douglas High School in the Class of 1959. She married George Wesley Gordon, and followed him on his many assignments during his military career. The family lived in Phoenix, North Dakota, Fort Sill, St. Louis and Okinawa, Japan, before moving to Ardmore in 1973. Joyce worked for Stromberg-Carlson from 1974 to 1975, and then for Michelin for 27 years, retiring from there in 2002. She enjoyed sewing, traveling, cruising the Bahamas and her church life.
    Joyce participated in many organizations, including Texas and Oklahoma Ladies Retreats.
    She was preceded in death by her parents, Simon and Helen Gooden; husband George Gordon; two sons, Gerald Gordon and Robert Wesley Gordon; brother Simon Gooden Jr.; sister Helen Washington; and stepmother Virginia Gooden.
    Joyce is survived by her children, Joyce Elaine Gordon of Ardmore, Stewart Blake Gordon and wife LaSharron of Ardmore, and Allen Lee Gordon of Tulsa; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; uncles Sammie Sanders and Edward Gooden; in-laws Harold and Delores Smith; sisters Loretha Patterson, Hulean Hoskins and Sammie Johnson; sister-in-law Myrla Gooden; mother-in-law Credella Jackson; cousins Troy “Billy” Green, Kim Cook, Emma Jean Booker and A.V. Wilson; and a host of extended family, church family and friends.
    Serving as pallbearers will be Michael Carr, Terry Carr, Robert Carr, Kenneth Gooden, David Carr and Danny Gordon.
    A visitation will be from 6 until 8 Friday evening at Griffin-Hillcrest of Ardmore.
