A Sunday morning altercation melted down into a violent crime in which one Ardmore man was shot and killed.
Ardmore Police Department Sgt. Bobby Moore said Volonte Anderson, 31, was pronounced dead at an Oklahoma City hospital after suffering a gunshot wound to the head. The incident occurred in the parking lot of All-Starz Sports Bar, located at the 1100 block of South Commerce. The shooting occurred as the bar was closing for the night, and police responded to the call of shots fired at 2:03 a.m.
“Apparently, there was an altercation at the club that turned physical,” Moore said. “After the altercation, gunshots were fired.”
Moore said there were multiple shots fired, although it has not been determined if there was more than one shooter. One bullet was recovered at a nearby residential building. Nine casings were recovered in the parking lot, all of the same caliber.
“We have not recovered the murder weapon, and there are no suspects at this time,” Moore said. “There are some leads we are following up.”
Moore said there are three individuals with which authorities would like to speak in regard to the shooting.
Anderson was transported from the scene and was admitted to an Oklahoma City hospital. He died at 6:38 a.m.
