A Celebration of Life for Volonta DeWon Anderson, 31, will be 11 a.m. Saturday, July 5, 2014, in Mount Zion Baptist Church, with his uncle, the Rev. Carl Loftis, delivering the eulogy. Pastor Wilmer Cooper will officiate. Interment will follow in Clearview Cemetery.

Volonta was born in Ardmore on March 30, 1983. He was the second child born to the former Margaretta Anderson and Reginald Berryman. A lifetime resident of Ardmore, Volonta achieved his education from the Ardmore schools. Early in life, he united with Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Gene Autry during the pastorate of his uncle, the Rev. Carl Loftis. His places of employment include McDonald’s, Sonic Drive-In, the MLK Garden and construction work in Marietta. Sunday, June 29, 2014, at approximately 2:10 a.m., Volonta became the victim of a bullet and was rushed by ambulance to the OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City, where at 6:38 a.m., with family and friends at his bedside, the Lord called him home.

He was preceded in death by a 5-week-old son, Kevonta Anderson, and on Oct. 7, 2012, his father, Reginald Berryman.

He leaves to forever cherish his memories his mother and stepfather, Margaretta and Dwight Rogers; two sons, Dovonta M. Anderson and Volanta M. Anderson Jr.; two brothers, Ontra Anderson and Dwight Rogers Jr.; one sister, Quanesha Rogers; a stepsister, Tawona Briscoe; a niece, Akira Ne`Miah Prather; maternal grandmother Wanda Loftis Anderson, paternal grandmother Rosie Berryman Hennesy; great-great grandmother Amy Loftis; and aunts, uncles, many closely knit cousins, many friends and loved ones.
