  • The National Park Service (NPS) has announced it is soliciting proposals for nationally-competitive grant funding from the Land and Water Conservation Fund. The pilot program, called the “Outdoor Recreation Legacy Partnership Program” is targeting projects that will acquire and/or develop public land for outdoor recreation purposes in cities having populations of 50,000 or more. Priority will be given to projects located in urbanized communities that are economically disadvantaged and are underserved in the area of outdoor recreation resources.

The amount of competitive funds requested per proposal must be a minimum of $250,000, with a maximum limit of $500,000, with a 1:1 matching requirement. With these limits, the NPS expects 6 to 12 projects will receive funding, nationwide.

The Oklahoma Tourism and Recreation Department Federal Grants Office is accepting applications for this funding opportunity through July 25, 2014. Submissions will be evaluated by this office, and the top two proposals will be forwarded to the NPS for review and possible acceptance into the national competition.
