A 27-year-old Ardmore man who played hooky from a Carter County District Court appearance Wednesday afternoon found himself back behind bars just hours later when an Ardmore police officer responded to a report of a man on a bicycle with a gun.

Officer Stuart Hofmann, Ardmore Police Department Patrol Division, responded about 10:20 p.m. to the intersection of 3rd Avenue NE and I Street NE. Reports indicate Hofmann was told Danny Gordon had threatened his ex-wife with a gun while chasing her down the street on his bicycle. Gordon was located a short time later and found in possession of what turned out to be a toy pistol. He was arrested without incident and booked into the Carter County Detention Center.

Toy weapon or not, the gun appeared real, and Thursday a feloniously pointing a firearm charge was filed against Gordon by the district attorney’s office. He made an initial appearance in district court Thursday afternoon. Bond was set at $30,000. If convicted, Gordon could face up to 10 years in prison

Gordon had been scheduled to enter guilty pleas Wednesday to charges of possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), eluding police and stalking. The charges were the result of APD cases filed against him in May. Those charges also remain pending.

Gordon currently remains detained at the county jail pending the posting of bond.
