  • LOVE COUNTY — A three-semi smash-up Tuesday afternoon on Interstate 35 near the 20 mile marker sent one Texas truck driver to a metro medical facility.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said Juan Escoto, 33, Rowlett, Texas, was taken by ambulance to Mercy Hospital Ardmore and later transferred to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City. Escoto was admitted to the hospital in stable condition with multiple injuries.
Patrol reports indicate a “sleepy” Escoto was southbound behind the wheel of a 2006 Freightliner when he hit the back of a southbound 2012 Peterbilt, driven by Billy Valdes, 48, Grand Prairie, Texas. Escoto’s truck then ran off the road. He over-corrected, and as the semi came back onto I-35, it hit a southbound 2012 Freightliner, driven by Kenneth Howard, 49, Fort Worth, Texas.
Neither Valdes or Howard were injured in the 4 p.m. crash.
All three men were wearing seat belts at the time of the collision.
Cause of the accident was listed as inattention.
