  • Ninnie LaNell Stone, 77, passed away on Sunday, July 27, 2014, in Oklahoma City. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 30, 2014, in The Chapel at Griffin-Hillcrest, Ardmore, with Pastor Larry Stevens officiating. Interment to follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park, Ardmore.
    LaNell was born on March 22, 1937, to Carlos Charles Kinard and Ninnie Mae (Michaels) Kinard near Blackwell, Texas. She graduated from Blackwell High School. She met Willard Earl “Bill” Stone while she was in school and Bill was working in the oil field in that area. After LaNell graduated from high school, the couple were married on Nov. 22, 1954, at Blackwell. They spent the next 14 years following Bill’s work in the oil fields in Arkansas, Colorado, Texas and Oklahoma, moving to Ardmore in 1968. She began working as the secretary for Northwest Baptist Church of Ardmore, and was with the church for almost 35 years before retiring. She was a devoted member of Northwest Baptist Church. LaNell enjoyed reading and sewing. She was an OSU sports fan, especially watching Cowboy and Thunder basketball games. LaNell loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and attended hundreds of baseball games, choir concerts and school events that they were involved in.
    She was preceded in death by her parents and daughter Vicki Stone in 2000.
    LaNell is survived by her husband of 60 years, Bill of the home; daughter Carla Edwards and husband Tommy; grandchildren Megan Hightower and husband Justin of Luther, and John Edwards and wife Alexandra of Kingsville, Texas; great-grandchildren Vanis Hightower, Amelia Hightower, Hattie Hightower, and soon-to-arrive Evangeline Vicki Edwards, due in August; brother Michael Kinard of Abilene, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.
    Serving as pallbearers will be nephews Wesley Kinard and Keith Kinard; great-nephews Jeff Kinard and Seth Kinard; great-nephew-in-law Brandon Whisonant; and family friend Jim McCaskill.
    A family visitation will be from 6 until 8 this evening at Griffin-Hillcrest, Ardmore.
    In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in LaNell’s name to West Texas Rehab Center, 4651 Hartford St., Abilene, TX 79506.
