Richard Lawrence Eye Jr. passed away at the age of 76 in McMillan. The family will have private services at a later date.
Richard was born July 20, 1938, to Richard Lawrence Eye Sr. and Pauline (Shirtlift) Eye in Palo, Iowa. He was a graduate of Palo High School in 1954. He attended Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, studying liberal arts. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1957, and served his country for six years and was honorably discharged in 1963.
After his discharge, he returned to Palo, Iowa, and worked in the family business in the local Chevrolet, Pontiac dealership. In 1965, he married Carolyn Sanders in Palo, Iowa, and continued living in Palo until 1970, until they moved to Anamosa, Iowa, where the family had moved their dealership, where he retired in 1988. He then moved to Port LaVaca, Texas, where he enjoyed fishing and boating, later moving to Las Vegas, N.M., where he enjoyed being in the mountains. In 2014, he moved to Ardmore to be close to his son.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Richard is survived by his son, Daniel Eric Eye and wife Kathy of McMillan; brother Jack Eye of Tampa, Fla.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
