Ardmore police and federal lawmen paid an early-morning call on a 23-year-old Ardmore man Friday, arresting him on a federal warrant charging him with possession of marijuana and illegal possession of a weapon, and finding him in possession of yet more marijuana and another illegal gun.

Capt. Eric Hamblin, Ardmore Police Department public information officer, said James Dewayne Marshall, also known as James Fields, was taken into custody by APD detectives, ATF agents and U.S. Marshals about 8 a.m. at a residence located in the 100 block of 5th Avenue NW. Marshall was arrested without incident.

“He is now on his way to Muskogee in the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service,” Hamblin said shortly after the takedown.

The federal warrant calling for Marshall’s arrest was based on a investigation conducted by APD Criminal Investigations Division and ATF.

Marshall’s Carter County District Court criminal history includes two recent arrests — the first, in February, that brought subsequent drugs and weapons charges, and a second arrest, on July 1, that yielded a charge of possession of drugs with intent to distribute. He had posted bonds of $35,000 in both cases, gaining his release from the county jail.
