  • In a recent survey of 1,000 American adults Americans they’re evenly divided. Thirty-one percent say yes, women are smarter, but just as many (31 percent) say no they’re not. Slightly more, 38 percent insist they aren’t sure.

Of course, women and men differ in their opinions on this question: 39 percent of women think those of their sex are smarter, but a plurality (44 percent ) of men disagrees. One-in-five men (21 percent) believe women are smarter, but 18 percent of women disagree. Sizable numbers of men (34 percent) and women (42 percent ) are not sure.

Thirty-two percent of all adults agree that, in America today, it is better to be a man. Just 13 percent think it’s better to be a woman. Half (49 percent) believe the quality of life is about the same for both.

Twice as many women (42 percent ) as men (22 percent) think it’s better to be a man in America today. Twenty percent of men think it’s better to be a woman, but only seven percent (7 percent) of women agree. Fifty-three percent of men and 46 percent of women agree that the quality of life is about the same for both sexes.
