The pilot who died Saturday in a single engine crash near the entrance to Lake Murray State Park has been identified.
Capt. Ronnie Hampton, commander Oklahoma Highway Patrol Troop F headquartered in Ardmore, confirmed Tuesday reports Lawrence Brewer, 63, Apache, died at the scene of the 2:15 p.m. crash of the 1967 Piper Cherokee.
The 58-year-old passenger, identified as a friend of the pilot and a mechanic, was critically injured. He was taken by ambulance to Mercy Hospital Ardmore and then airlifted to Parkland Hospital in Dallas. His name has not been released.
The crash remains under investigation by the National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration, a trooper said
