  • Mark your calendar for “I Love My Child” Family Fun Day hosted by the Chickasaw Nation 9:30 a.m. to noon Saturday, Aug. 23, at Wintersmith Park in Ada, Okla.

Family-friendly attractions, games, demonstrations and activities will fill the morning; free snacks and refreshments will also be served.

Every year, the Office of Child Support Services hosts “I Love My Child” Family Fun Day to celebrate children and families; and to shed light on the importance of providing the financial and emotional support children need.

The Office of Child Support Services is a free program the Chickasaw Nation offers citizens to eliminate the cost of establishing child support. It can establish paternity through genetic testing if needed. Once paternity is determined, it will establish a child support order. The office enforces child support orders by collecting and monitoring payments.

Families can expect a positive, encouraging environment when they work with the Chickasaw Nation Office of Child Support Services. The office is comprised of an upbeat, helpful staff with a passion for bringing hope to the families served.

The office helps connect families with other programs in the Chickasaw Nation that could be useful to them; whether it’s suggesting a summer camp for children, helping children get a clothing grant for school clothes, or preparing a parent for a job interview, the staff wants to open every opportunity to their clients.

The program has 1,800 cases at any given time and has collected millions in child support payments.

The month of August is Child Support Awareness month. The Chickasaw Nation opened the Office of Child Support Services in 1996. It has grown immensely since its opening, even acting as a model for other tribes to establish their own child support services.
