How can you help support the growth of Market Place On Broadway? Take time to visit and enjoy the market.
Talk to your friends and neighbors about farm-fresh produce. Understand the difference between a “peddlers’ market” that sells produce from out of state, and a true farmers market that sells seasonal produce and puts you “face to face” with the person who grew and harvested the food you are about to eat.
Visit the Market Place On Broadway this Saturday and you will find fresh seasonal produce, coffee and donuts, handmade soaps and much more. The market is open every Wednesday and Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to noon, rain or shine. The Wednesday market has been somewhat slow for now due to all the wonderful early rain we had.
What’s in season this week:
Bella Gardens has red and yellow onions, new potatoes and collard greens. At Lone Oak Garden, you will find strawberries, turnips, beets, carrots, patty pan squash, yellow squash, cucumbers, Swiss chard, green beans and some peppers. Stop at Motes Produce and you will find new potatoes, squash, zucchini, red and green cabbage, cauliflower, sweet and hot peppers. Chris Woodruff of Woodruff Farm still has plenty of those great strawberries as well as onions and, with any luck, she will have some tomatoes.
Stratford Greenhouse will have cabbage, snow peas, English peas, beets, broccoli, hanging plants and more. Melvett’s Farm Fresh Vegetables returns this week with onions, collard greens and new potatoes. Gregg and Cathy Smith of Ladybug Farm will be back this week, as well.
If you’re looking for gifts, Cindy Landreth has handcrafted soap, crème, lip balm, handcrafted baskets and more. Peggy Sanford of Sanford Soap and Crafting has handmade soaps and some fresh produce. There will be two more vendors this week. Coffee and doughnuts will also be back this week.
If you would like to participate in Market Place On Broadway as a vendor, we would love to hear from you. To get more information, see our market manager or send e-mails to melvettc@msbit.org.
