Rhonda Walker, with The Bramlett Agency, recently completed the Future Insurance Leaders of Oklahoma Program.

This is the second year The Young Agents committee of the Independent Insurance Agents of Oklahoma has presented this state-wide leadership program.

The mission of the FILO program is to develop dynamic leaders for the future of Oklahoma’s independent insurance agency system. The program helps participants understand the insurance industry, exposes them to a variety of insurance operations, and encourages them to become leaders in the industry and their community.

Participants were selected from insurance professionals 40 years of age or younger. They have to carry an active property and casualty insurance license, be a member in good standing of IIAO and have a minimum one year in the insurance business.

“I was so pleased to be a part of this innovative program,” Walker said. “It helped advance my development as a leader, as well as provided invaluable education of the insurance industry and our state government.”

The FILO program consisted of five modules required for completion, which included leadership training, insurance sales training, government affairs, underwriting risk and claims, and regulatory affairs. Participants also completed a community service project. This year’s project was hands-on assistance with the construction of a Habitat for Humanity house.

“I believe this experience will benefit my department, our clients and community,” said Walker, who is the Special Services Unit Supervisor/Account Manager for The Bramlett Agency. “It has given me a stronger base in the industry, which will help me develop stronger relationships with our clients and staff. I’m looking forward to participating in more state and community events.”
