Keep Oklahoma Beautiful has named the Ardmore Beautification Council as a finalist in two separate categories for its environmental excellence awards to be presented on Tuesday, Nov. 17.
The group was named for its new Tree Tender program, providing in-depth tree care education to 24 volunteers and publishing a 200-page manual.
Ardmore Beautification Council also was named along with the Hardy Murphy Coliseum for its partnership in maintaining and supporting the unique Xeriscape garden there, designed to remain healthy and attractive in all extremes of weather.
The environmental excellence awards and other special honors will be presented at Keep Oklahoma Beautiful’s 19th annual awards banquet at the Skirvin Plaza Hotel in Oklahoma City.
Almost two dozen groups, businesses and individuals will be recognized for their outstanding service to the cause of beautification and commitment to environmental improvements.
Keep Oklahoma Beautiful was established in 1965 as a statewide nonprofit organization with a mission to encourage, promote and facilitate efforts to improve and enhance Oklahoma’s aesthetic and environmental quality of life.
