The United States Chamber of Commerce this week awarded the Ardmore Chamber of Commerce with 4-star accreditation for its sound policies, effective organizational procedures and positive impact on the community.
“Accreditation validates a chamber as having programs that benefit their local economy and for positively influencing action in their community,” said Raymond P. Towle, U.S. Chamber executive director of political affairs and federation relations. “We applaud these organizations for advancing the principles of free enterprise.”
Accreditation is the only national program that recognizes chambers for their effective organizational procedures and community involvement. In order to receive accreditation, a chamber must meet minimum standards in their operations and programs, including areas of governance, government affairs and technology. This extensive review took four months to complete. Local chambers are rated as “accredited”, or worthy of “distinguished accreditation” with 3-stars, 4-stars, or 5-stars. The final determination is made by the accrediting board, a committee of U.S. Chamber board members.
Chamber President and CEO Wes Stucky said the Ardmore Chamber received initial accreditation in 1990.
“The Chamber has continued to escalate in the ratings on each subsequent 5year re-accreditation process,” he said. “It points to the dedication of our board and volunteers toward continuous improvement.”
The Ardmore Chamber of Commercehas been an advocate for business and community improvement for more than 90 years. With more than 750 members, the Chamber continues in its mission to provide leadership for the promotion and advancement of economic vitality and the quality of life for the greater Ardmore area.
