Two Ardmore residents have managed to walk away with the U. S. Commerce Association’s 2009 Best of Santa Fe Award in the bed and breakfast category.
Dr. Ron Bulard purchased The Water Street Inn in May and a month later, family friend, DeeAnn Skidmore agreed to move from Ardmore to Santa Fe to become the inn’s manager. By the end of the year the pair had garnered the prestigious award through the USCA “Best of Local Business” award programs. Each year, the USCA identifies companies that have achieved exceptional marketing success in their local communities and business categories. Selections are based on firms who have enhanced the positive image of small business through service to their customers and community. Winners are selected through a variety of information, which is gathered and analyzed. The 2009 USCA Award Program focused on quality, not quantity. Winners are determined based on the information gathered both internally by the USCA and data provided by third parties.
In a recent interview Skidmore talked about the Santa Fe venture.
“The quaint charm, the beautiful scenery, the bountiful shopping which includes fine art and fine dining brought Dr. Bulard to Santa Fe for a visit. He was so impressed with the area and taking into consideration Santa Fe is one of the top 10 favorite destination cities in the USA, decided to expand his business portfolio and venture into the hospitality industry in Santa Fe. That decision led him to The Water Street Inn,” Skidmore said.
The inn is an adobe restoration located three blocks from the historic Downtown Santa Fe Plaza. The bed and breakfast features 11 rooms, individually decorated in the southwest style and includes kiva fireplaces and a bevy of amenities. In addition the inn features hot gourmet breakfast and happy hour hors d’oeuvres.
