Ardmore’s Motel 6 is kicking off the 2nd Annual Great Teddy Bear Roundup in an effort to assist local law enforcement officers and other agencies and facilities who comfort children in times of need.

Bruce J. Baird, general manager at the local motel, said from now through Dec. 11, members of the community can deposit new teddy bears in the collection boxes located at Motel 6, 120 Holiday Drive.

The local drive is part of the motel chain’s nationwide campaign. Last year the Great Teddy Bear Roundup resulted in the collection of 10,000 of the stuffed animals nationally.

“The astounding success of last year’s inaugural Great Teddy Bear Roundup has challenged us to do more and collect even more teddy bears for the community,” said Olivier Poirot, CEO of Accor North America, Motel 6 and Studio 6.  “We respect and appreciate the work of our local police, fire departments and social services and are proud to continue supporting them in their efforts to comfort children in need.”

This year, as an added benefit for a local community, Motel 6 will donate $6,000 to the local fire or police department of the Motel 6 location in North America that collects the greatest number of bears.

“With the help of our guests and community, we can make this year’s Teddy Bear Roundup even more successful than last year’s,” Baird said. “We look forward to having a mountain of teddy bears at Motel 6 to benefit young children in our community.”
