A day devoted to shredding privacy papers and learning how to prevent identity theft has been scheduled at Citizens Bank and Trust Co., from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday at the North Commerce and 12th Avenue location. File Thirteen will shred up to five boxes per person.
Nancy Sjulin, Citizens Bank said, “Information on identity theft prevention is available on our Web site at www.CitizensArdmore.com and handouts will be provided during the shredding event. It is important that people understand the steps they need to take in order to keep their identity secure and we are offering this information as public education on this day.”
The event is being sponsored by Citizens Bank & Trust Co. and Ardmore Beautification Council as a part of Ardmore’s 2009 Great American Cleanup.
According to Ardmore Beautification Council spokesperson Norma Lynne Paschall, “The File Thirteen shredding day is a way for people to reduce the amount of paper they have by offering an easy and safe way to destroy sensitive papers. After the paper is shredded, it goes to File Thirteen’s recycling facility, where it is baled and sent to a pulper to make new paper products.”
The Great American Cleanup is a three-month community improvement campaign coordinated by Keep America Beautiful. Ardmore Beautification Council is an affiliate of KAB and they organize the local effort which will continue through May 31.
