Ardmore city commissioners met with Ardmore Development Authority President and CEO Wes Stucky Tuesday to discuss making a number of infrastructure improvements in northwest Ardmore to help attract an industrial prospect.

Stucky asked the commissioners to consider committing between $2.4 million and $3.4 million for road, water and sewer improvements near the intersection of 12th Avenue N.W. and Plainview Road. The unidentified company is interested in operating a distribution center in the area that would employ approximately 100 people.

The improvements to 12th Avenue N.W. would begin just west of Love’s and continue to Plainview Road. Plainview Road would be improved from 12th Avenue N.W. north about a quarter of a mile. The remaining costs of the project would be paid from TIF bonds and government grants.

Stucky said the improvements could open the whole area up for future industrial development.

Since the meeting was for discussion purposes only, no decisions were made. The commissioners asked Interim City Manager J. D. Spohn and Finance Director Ken Campbell to determine if money might be available in the budget to fund the project. They are expected to report back to the commissioners within a week or so.
