Holly Easterling will serve as chairwoman of the Chickasaw Tribal Legislature for the 2010 fiscal year.

Tribal officials announced Monday the 13-member Legislature elected Easterling to the post. The fiscal year began Oct. 1.

Easterling is the immediate past chairman of the legislature’s finance committee.

As finance chairman, she oversaw the approval of the tribe’s annual operating budget and development projects, including the new 370,000-square-foot medical center set for 2010 completion in Ada.

“It is a great honor to be elected to this position by my peers on the Legislature,” Easterling said.
“I am grateful for the opportunity to be of service to the Legislative Branch and, more importantly, to the citizens of the Chickasaw Nation whom I represent.”

Easterling was re-elected to a Pontotoc District legislative seat in July. She is now in her third term as a tribal representative.

Previously, she served as controller of the tribe’s business division. She is a certified public accountant and a graduate of Oklahoma State University.
