Ardmore, OK —

IMTEC Corporation of Ardmore has been selected by the Oklahoma Center for the Advancement of Science and Technology as a winner in the organization’s Oklahoma Nanotechnology Applications Project.
IMTEC will receive $299,250 over the next three years to research applying nanotechnology to its manufacturing processes.
The nanotechnology project was created by the Oklahoma Legislature and is in its second year. IMTEC was one of eight Oklahoma companies or researchers awarded state funding.
Dr. Mauricio Sanchez, IMTEC’s product liaison engineer, is the principal investigator in the project that will apply nanotechnology to one of IMTEC’s dental implant systems by introducing nanoparticles to enhance osseointegration and minimize risk of infection.
“If successful, this research will make great strides in enhancing IMTEC’s product line,” Sanchez said.
Sanchez will be working on the research along with Drs. Brian P. Grady and Vassillios I. Sikavitsas from the University of Oklahoma’s College of Engineering. Research on the project will begin in July.
