Ladies of the Leaf members had their Guest Day on Monday in the Ardmore Public Library.  Patricia Jurey was the guest speaker and spoke of “The Titanic: My Grandmother’s Story.”

Jurey has worked on her family’s history since 1985 and has done much research in finding family members dating back to the 1700s.

Her great-grandparents were on the Titanic with some of their children returning from a trip to Europe.

Although the mother and the children made it onto a lifeboat and were saved, Jurey’s great-grandfather died with the Titanic. Jurey gave a very detailed description of her story and kept the audience’s attention to the very end.

A reception followed the meeting and was hosted by Carolyn Franks, Billye Jobe and Patti McGuire.

The next meeting will be on Nov. 2.
