For the first time in 40 years, the sanctuary at the Seventh-day Adventist Church is getting a new, fresh, modern look.
Renovations started last week and included removal of the original dark paneling that has covered the walls of the sanctuary since the church was built in 1968.
Church building committee chairman, Rodney Phillips said plans are to transform the walls with paint, in a light cream color. The lighter wall treatment is designed to open up the space and provide a lighter and brighter atmosphere.
Other renovations will include pews, carpet and the rebuilding of the platform. The color scheme chosen for the renovation project centers on earth tones.
Phillips said committee members hope the entire project will be completed within the next two to three weeks.
The church is located at 828 Locust St. Services on Saturday are being conducted in the church fellowship hall while the sanctuary is being remodeled.
