Oct. 10 at the Mountain View Mall in Ardmore, not only was there shopping going on, but there were nine 4-H members working at their interactive displays at the Carter County Mall Day event.
Mall Day is a chance for 4-H’ers through out Carter County to bring their project displays and posters and show them off to the rest of their community. It is also a good time to meet and recruit new people to 4-H.
From 12:30 to 2:30 p.m., the 4-H’ers got to talk to different people and show them their project areas. These members included Harlie Shaver, Fox 4-H; Cole Watkins, Kortney Eades, Maggie Maher, Dickson Clover Club; Christian Allen, Shooting Sports Club; Dallas Fisher and Brooke Murray, Horse Club; and Erica Watkins and Katie Lackey representing the Leadership Team.
The 4-H members had projects ranging form recycling to shooting sports to the MyPyramid. The Carter County Horse Club display included research the club had done on the “Cost of Owning a Horse.” The display was manned by member Emily Hamilton and assisted by Cloverbud member Skylar Wright.
This event gave youth an opportunity to polish public speaking and leadership skills.
