Ardmore, OK —

Kiya is a spayed female, 2-year-old large Irish terrier with a short tail. She was picked up by one of the City of Ardmore’s kind animal control officers when she was spotted running loose on the streets. She wears identification on her collar and Kiya even has a microchip, so contacting her owner was easy for the animal shelter team. However, her owner could not keep her anymore and wanted us to find her a new home. We thought there would be no problem finding a young, healthy, leash-trained Irish terrier that comes, sits, shakes hands and begs a new home. Wow, were we wrong! She has now been one of our residents for longer than two months. We hope someone will see this article and come to our animal shelter at 321 Carol Brown Blvd. and adopt her soon, because this high-energy dog has become bored and stressed in our kennels and her time is now limited. Irish terriers are rambunctious retrievers that need plenty of exercise and attention. This Irish terrier gets along well with other big dogs, but not with cats or livestock, and she likes people of all sizes. If you have questions about this full-of-personality dog, just call Ardmore Animal Care Inc. Animal Shelter at (580) 223-7070. This week, Ardmore Animal Care Inc. needs donations of canned chicken and cat litter.
