CNRA offering children’s art workshop

Sulphur, OK —

Park rangers at Chickasaw National Recreation Area are offering a children’s  “Nature’s Sketch” art workshop starting Monday.


The workshop is open to all children who are in the 4th grade or above. The workshop will be conducted daily from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the following locations:


* Monday — Bromide Pavilion
* Tuesday — Lincoln Bridge
* Wednesday — Walnut Grove Picnic Area
* Thursday — Veterans Lake Pavilion
* Friday — Travertine Nature Center


In case of rain daily activities will be conducted at Travertine Nature Center.


Seasonal park ranger Diana Rushford will conduct the workshop. Art supplies will be provided. Daily activities will include a short ranger “talk” as well as instruction on basic drawing techniques. Participants will learn about park resources, animals and landscapes, including birds, trees, waterfalls and historic structures, as well as share time at the various locations with each other and rangers.


Group size is limited and pre-registration is required to attend.
