Law enforcement officials in Carter and Marshall counties had a busy weekend after making three unrelated drug arrests in Kingston, Wilson and Healdton.

The Marshall County District Attorney’s office filed formal charges Monday against Juan Cordero-Salazar, 43, and Evodia Gonzales, 43.
The two are charged with possession of a controlled substance, which carries a penalty of two to 10 years imprisonment. Cordero-Salazar is also charged with driving without a license and defective equipment.
Kingston police reports show the couple were arrested after a routine traffic stop by Officer John Correia on Friday night. He pulled the pair over when he noticed the high brake light on their Ford pickup wasn’t working.
A search of Gonzales’ purse discovered a rock of methamphetamine and $5,702 in cash.
Reports show the couple giving conflicting answers to police on where the money came from, with Cordero-Salazar telling Correia the money came from the proceeds of a horse sale, and Gonzales saying they won it at a casino.
Cordero-Salazar and Gonzales remain in the Marshall County Jail pending posting their $25,000 bonds.
• WILSON
An 18-year-old Ardmore man was arrested early Saturday morning after a traffic stop resulted in the seizure of 7.1 ounces of marijuana.
Christopher Scott Dixon was arrested pending charges of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, minor in possession of alcohol and public intoxication.
Police records show Dixon was riding in the passenger seat of the GMC Envoy when Wilson Police Capt. Phillip Wolfenbarger pulled it over near the Black Gold Casino for driving erratically.
A female juvenile was driving the vehicle, with another male passenger and female juvenile riding in the back seat. Wolfenbarger said in the report he smelled odors associated with alcoholic beverages and burning marijuana as he approached the vehicle.
A search of the vehicle revealed a large plastic bag filled with marijuana and a digital scale. Two bottles of beer were also found in the vehicle.
“When you see scales and that quantity, you have enough to charge with intent to distribute,” said Wilson Police Chief Felix Hernandez.
Dixon remains in custody at the Carter County Detention Facility pending posting of a $1,500 bond. Hernandez said the other male passenger was released with no charge, and the two female juveniles were cited for minor in possession and released to the custody of their parents.

• HEALDTON
Reports from concerned citizens led to an investigation ending in the arrest of a 21-year-old Healdton man pending charges of possession of precursor substances with the intent to manufacture methamphetamine.
Police Chief Gus Handke approached a house where Kyle Kroth, 21, was staying. Handke said he had received reports of suspected drug activity near the home in the 300 block of East Texas Street.
Upon entering Kroth’s room, reports show Handke found a plate with a razor blade, a small plastic bag containing chemical residue and two glass containers that tested positive for the presence of methamphetamine.
After arresting Kroth, Handke found a can of starting fluid, a can of Drano, a can of denatured alcohol and an empty blister pack of pseudoephedrine tablets.
Handke said public participation in anti-drug efforts is vital to their success.
“I’ve just been very pleased with the people here in Healdton,” he said. “They’re tired of it and they want it to change.”
Kroth remained in the Carter County Detention Facility as of Monday afternoon. Bond information was not immediately available.
