Ardmore, OK —

The Salvation Army in Ardmore is developing a mission planning study to help serve the needs of the community. Capt. Ernest Hull said the idea of the study is to make the delivery of services to the community more effective.

A mission planning study is a tool The Salvation Army employs to remain aware of the broad scope of need in the community and how those needs change over time. Study participants will not be asked to make or consider making a monetary donation to The Salvation Army.

“The whole idea of doing this study is to get with the members of the community from other agencies and important folks in the community who can tell us what they know of the services we are providing,” Hull said. “Also, how they feel about what we’re providing and what gaps they see in the community that we might be able to fill.”

This mission planning study will include personal interviews starting next week with non-profit organization leaders, ministers, city government officials, community and business leaders and members of The Salvation Army Advisory Board.

In addition, an analysis of demographic information from Carter, Johnston, Love, Marshall and Murray counties will be implemented.

Task force members include: Scott Andrews, attorney; Tom Dunlap, oil production; Darryl Howard, BancFirst; Emmett Hudgins, retired Ardmore City School deputy superintendent; Millard Ingram, retired restaurateur; and Alison Smalley, Smalley Dental Clinic.
