A single-vehicle accident at 11:33 a.m. Sunday at mile marker 44 on Interstate 35 resulted in two women being hospitalized in Oklahoma City.
Irene Jikit, 47, of Keene, Texas, was driving a 2005 Chrysler south when she swerved right to miss a vehicle coming from the on ramp.
Oklahoma Highway Patrol reports said she over-corrected, going across both southbound lanes and the vehicle rolled before coming to rest on its top in the center median.
Jikit was transported by ambulance to a local hospital and then later transferred to an Oklahoma City hospital in critical condition with head injuries.
Passenger Ruthann Clanton, also of Keene, was transported from the accident by air to an Oklahoma City hospital. She was admitted in serious condition with head and internal injuries.
Four other passengers were transported by ambulance to a local hospital, where they were treated and released.
Seat belts were in use by the driver and one passenger, according to OHP reports.
