Logan Gray of Lone Grove earned first-place honors in the Agricultural Mechanics Repair and Maintenance Entrepreneurship proficiency award area during the 82nd Oklahoma FFA Convention on April 30.
Gray won the award based on his day-to-day repair and maintenance of farm equipment and the agricultural mechanics skills learned while at work to improve the performance of equipment and machinery. Gray has started his own small welding and equipment repair shop. Gray’s knowledge of advanced welding and maintenance knowledge set him apart in the classroom and beyond.
“Welding and repairing equipment allows me to further develop mechanical skills as well as earn money,” Gray said.
The Agricultural Mechanics Repair and Maintenance proficiency award is designed to recognize students who are involved in a supervised agricultural experience related to the repair and maintenance of agricultural equipment and other structures.
This award is sponsored on the state level by Warren CAT. The award is nationally sponsored by Hobart Welders and Tractor Supply Co.
The 17-year-old Lone Grove FFA member is the son of Bradley and Racheal Gray. His agricultural education instructor and FFA adviser is Michael Stuckey.
