Technologically challenged? Help is a click away at CRLS libraries.
Free computer classes are set to begin at several Chickasaw Regional Library System libraries. The classes are designed for individuals who have little or no computer experience and want to update their skills and increase their knowledge.
To feel “TC” (technologically challenged) no longer, register for one of the classes scheduled at CRLS Headquarters in Ardmore.
• “Computer Basics for Beginners” is scheduled from 2 to 3 p.m. on Thursday. The class will offer participants an opportunity to get acquainted with computer terminology, to learn about the physical components of a computer and to explore some of the functions and features of the Windows operating system. The class will be offered again from 10 to 11 a.m. on Nov. 23.
• “Surf the Web Basics” will begin at 8 a.m. on Nov. 2. This one-hour class will cover fun facts about the Internet and will give participants a chance to try their hand at navigating the Web. Registrants should have basic mouse skills. Seating for this class is limited. This class will be offered again from 8 to 9 a.m. on Dec. 7.
• “Exploring Word I” is an introduction to word processing using Microsoft Word 2007. This class introduces the beginner how to enter and edit text, control cursor movement, select text, save and open documents, use shortcuts like cut and paste and choose and format fonts. Participants should have basic mouse and keyboard skills. The class is scheduled for from 5 to 6 p.m. Nov. 5. Seating for this class is limited.
• On Nov. 6, “E-mail for the Absolute Beginner” will be offered at 10 to 11:30 a.m. Topics will include the fundamentals of setting up a free e-mail address, setting up a contact list, e-mail etiquette, composing and sending messages. This class is restricted to those who do not already have an e-mail account set up elsewhere. Seating is limited.
• Other CRLS libraries hosting classes are Davis Public Library, “Computer Basics for the Beginner,” from 6 to 7 tonight; Atoka County Library, “E-mail for the Absolute Beginner, from 9 to 10:30 a.m. on Nov. 11, and “Surf the Web Basics,” from 10:45 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Nov. 11.
All classes offered at CRLS libraries are free and open to the public, however registration is required.
