Several students from area schools were named Students of the Month by the Ardmore Rotary Club.
Cody Barrett is a senior at Plainview High School, where he has a 3.0 grade point average. He has played football for three years and baseball for four years, and is a four-year member of the Forte vocal group. He was a member of the 2008 All District football team, was named Outstanding Choral Student of the Year for 2007 and All District Choral Member from 2006 to 2008.
Barrett has worked at Sonic Drive-in and has a lawn-mowing business. He plans to attend the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond and major in physical therapy.
He is the son of Brian and Vicki Barrett.
Trevor McPherson is the son of Michael and Jana McPherson. He has a 3.5 grade point average at Plainview, where he has played baseball for four years, is listed in Who’s Who and is a member of the Spanish and science clubs and the honor society. He was named Student of the Month and AP language Student of the Year.
McPherson is the head lifeguard at the community pool and plans to attend Oklahoma State University to study pre-med. He plans to study optometry at Northwestern Oklahoma State University.
Dylan Mitchell has a 3.14 grade point average at Plainview, and is in his second year at the Southern Oklahoma Technology Center in construction.
The son of Randy and Marilyn Mitchell has worked as a cook at Two Frogs Grill for two years. He plans to major in construction management at OSU-Okmulgee.
Plainview senior Lashayna Robertson is a member of the Plainview track club, FCCLA, Fellowship of Christian Athletes and is in her first year of health science at SOTC. She was named All State twice in cross country and three times in track and has received presidential honors for mentoring children.
The daughter of Talonna Gillaspy, she has worked at Staples, Elmbrook Nursing Home and in Dr. Jason Smotherman’s office.
She plans to attend UCO and major in health.
Ardmore High School senior Kristin Sisson has a 3.65 grade point average and is involved in yearbook staff, National Honor Society, FCCLA, art, Spanish and science clubs, the AHS competition cheer squad and is student council secretary. She is a member and acolyte at St. Philip’s Episcopal Church and has participated in Relay For Life.
Sisson is a Girl’s State delegate, attended RYLA Rotary Club Leadership Camp and is a Young Women’s Leadership Ardmore graduate.
She is a sales associate at Cloverleaf Boutique, and plans to attend the University of Oklahoma after graduation.
She is the daughter of Neil and Peggy Sisson.
