Ardmore band students bring home honors

Several Ardmore High School and Ardmore Middle School band students have been named to the Southeastern All District Honor Band.


High school students selected were Evan Capshaw, Garrett Dees, Heather Edge, Namreh Jackson, Vanessa Jimenez and Cory Jordan.


Capshaw, Dees, Jackson, Jimenez and Jordan will advance to the All State Finals competition which will be held on Dec. 6.


Middle school students selected were Subu Bhandari, Isaiah Cary, Christyn Dunkin, Daniel Edwards, Mark Lopez, Lance Mitchell, Sam Pemberton, Lance Reisetter, C.T. Roan and Kendra Unruh.


In addition, the AHS marching band recently earned one superior and two excellent ratings at the Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association Regional Marching contest in Lawton.


“We are proud of the hard work and determination of these students and the achievements they have made,” band director Debra McMurry said. “They truly deserve this recognition.  Now we will change gears and prepare for our Fine Arts Holiday Gala at the Washington Theater.”


The band will perform their Holiday Gala performance at 6:00 p.m. Dec. 15 at the Washington Theater.
