The University of Central Oklahoma Office of Greek Life will host the Panhellenic Sorority Summer Tea 2009 at 3 p.m. on July 19 in the Nigh University Center Ballrooms.

Current and incoming UCO students who are interested in joining a sorority and their parents are invited to attend the free event. Participants can meet current Panhellenic sorority members and advisors and learn more about sorority membership at UCO.

“Summer Tea is the perfect opportunity for women who are thinking about going Greek at UCO,” said Jessica Schwab, Assistant Director of Greek Life and Student Organizations.

“It’s a chance for them to learn about the system and glimpse where they could grow on our campus,” she said.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to get advice on the registration and recruitment process and receive information on the Greek system at UCO. In addition, a special “parents only” forum will be held where parents can ask questions of UCO administration, chapter advisers and current students about Greek life and sorority membership.

The Panhellenic chapters at UCO that will be participating include Alpha Gamma Delta, Alpha Xi Delta, Delta Zeta and Sigma Kappa.

While attendance at the Summer Tea is encouraged, it is not required to participate in UCO’s formal sorority recruitment (or “rush”), which is scheduled for Aug. 21-25.

Students who are interested in attending can register online at www.uco.edu/greek, or contact the Greek Life office at (405) 9742580 or .
