The Ardmore Kiwanis Club recognized three area students as Students of the Month for January.
■ John Matthew Parker is a senior at Dickson High School, where he has a 4.26 grade point average. His parents are Johnny and Pam Parker.
He is active in student council and is vice president of the Dickson FFA. He was also named The Ardmoreite Student of the Week.
Parker is employed by 070 Cattle Company. He plans to attend Texas A& M to pursue a mechanical engineering degree.
■ Kristen Galles, the daughter of Pat and Pam Galles, has attended Plainview Schools for six years. She is a member of the varsity softball and basketball teams, is a varsity football trainer, is a member of the Oklahoma Honor Society, was named an Ardmoreite Blue Ribbon Scholar and was listed on the Superintendent’s and Governor’s Honor Rolls.
Galles was awarded All Conference in softball in 2006 and 2008 and Ardmore Super Team for basketball in 2008.
Upon graduation, she plans to attend Oklahoma State University and major in
veterinary medicine.
■ Jared Johnson, the son of Leroy and Susan Johnson, is a senior at Ardmore High School, where he has a 3.9722 grade point average.
Johnson is a fouryear member of the varsity baseball team, a member of the National and Oklahoma honor societies and the Krunk Krew. He is an Ardmoreite Blue Ribbon Scholar, is listed on the Principal’s Honor Roll and is concurrently enrolled at the Ardmore Higher Education Center.
He is employed by Epoch Designs and also serves as a tutor for the AVID program at the high school. Johnson plans to attend the University of Oklahoma, enrolled in the aviation program and participate in ROTC.
