Rock stars get ready.
The Museum of the Red River will host “Rock On!” — the first in a new series of “Family Fun” events — from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Sunday.
The event is scheduled to coincide with the McCurtain County Gem & Mineral Club’s annual showcase and the two will take place together at the Commercial Building at the McCurtain County Fairgrounds.
Family Fun events constitute a new initiative by the museum to host outings that bring families together for new experiences. The events are tentatively planned as monthly occurrences.
Featured activities will include expert guidance through the showcase, hands on activities and special demonstrations for the Family Fun participants.
All who love rocks, fossils and artifacts are welcome, though all children must be accompanied by an adult. This activity will be free of charge.
