Madill, OK —

Artists throughout the Texoma area and beyond are currently being contacted to enter their original artwork in the Madill Art club’s 47th Annual Art Show, according to club president Jana Wilburn.

The show will be judged and cash prizes and ribbons will be awarded.

The show will be open to the public from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Oct. 17, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Oct. 18 and from 1 to 3 p.m. on Oct. 19 at the Community Services Building in William Ray Memorial Park in Madill. The event is free and refreshments will be offered all three days.

Flyers, entry forms and show details have been mailed to the 65 artists who participated last year.
That information is available from vice president/public relations chair Susan Barton at (580) 564-3721 or Jana Wilburn at (580) 795-9545.

“We expect an excellent participation again this year,” Wilburn said. “Last year, we had more than 300 pieces of art exhibited. We expect more this year.

“Plus, the level of artistic ability shown in the work exhibited over the past few years has increased significantly,” she said. “I believe we have an unusually high number of excellent artists in this community and surrounding area. We hope the extended Texoma community will join us in this celebration.”

Currently, the Madill Art Club members show their work year-round at the Ruby Adkins Art Gallery at 403 E. Main St. in downtown Madill. The gallery is the former Marshall County office space.
“The space was generously offered two years ago to the club by county commissioners for the sole purpose of an art center in Marshall County,” Wilburn said. “Our art club members remodeled the premises with a great deal of personal labor and support of many non-artists, too. It was a labor of love.”

Art classes are conducted on the site. Oil painting is taught on Tuesdays by Coleman artist Nita McDaniel and watercolor classes on Wednesdays are taught by artist Dianne Bennett of Sadler, Texas.

Questions can be directed to former club president Linda Ingle at (580) 465-4829 or from vice president Susan Barton at (580) 564-3721.
