Sullivan Family Park will come alive with games, activities and attractions for the whole family this weekend during Lone Grove Days.
Sponsored by the Lone Grove Kiwanis Club, the Friday and Saturday event will kick off with the traditional gospel singing at 6:30 tonight. Organizer Darryl Howard invites everyone to bring their lawn chairs to the park for the open-air singing.
Live entertainment is also planned for Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. A few time slots are still open and those interested in performing should call David Wall at (580) 220-5960.
Those interested in reserving an arts-and-crafts booth space can call Angie Green at (580) 465-0901.
Jeff Miller and Jared Swink are organizers of this year’s car show, set from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday. A People’s Choice Trophy will be awarded, as well as awards in multiple classes, including best engine and best paint. There is a $10 entry fee. To enter a car, call Miller at (580) 657-2066.
Several food vendors will be on hand at the festival. Concession spaces can be reserved by calling Wall at (580) 220-5960.
The local talent show, “Lone Grove Has Talent,” is scheduled from 4 to 5 p.m. on Saturday.
Any local group or individual who can sing, dance, play a musical instrument, do gymnastics, baton twirling or any other feat is eligible to enter. Wall is also the contact for the talent show.
The barbecue cook-off will feature chicken, ribs, pork butt and brisket. Anyone who wants to sample the barbecue can pay one price and taste them all. Those who want to enter can call Bryan Marr at (580) 465-7253.
A sand volleyball tournament is planned for Saturday and the rules are simple. Co-ed teams consist of six players with two substitutes. Each team must have an equal number of men and women players. The entry fee is $10 and those who want to play can call Todd Graves at (580) 657-3176 or (580) 223-6641. This contest is for church groups, families and friends, not competitive groups.
Donnie Long is in charge of the three-on-three basketball tournament. Those interested can call him at (580) 465-7848.
There will also be a moon bounce for the younger set to enjoy.
Destiny DFries and Reagan Nicole Sabelhaus are vying for the Miss Lone Grove crown. Miss Lone Grove Princess contestants are Katelyn Taylor and Graci Idleman. Queens will be crowned at 5 p.m. on Saturday.
Other events include a horsehoe tournament and car bash.
Everyone is invited to bring the family to the park for this weekend’s festivities.
