Mary Ann Fore, Ardmore, and long-time member of the Artists of the Arbuckles, Murray County, has been awarded Artist of the Month. In discussing her interest in painting, Fore said “I like to connect with people and their emotions: Painting has given me that opportunity many times over in the past several decades.”
Many of her works have been purchased by a variety of entities, including corporate and public institutions and private collectors throughout the U.S.
Fore’s artistic expression began early in life. Her parents, who recognized her ability, placed her in private painting lessons at age eight in the city of her birth, St. Louis, Mo.
She has since raised a family, but always continued her work in art using several mediums, including watercolor, oil, pastel, acrylic and oil.
She has won People’s Choice in several shows as well as other awards. She has shown in special exhibitions and juried shows, including those at the Goddard Center in Ardmore, and the Oklahoma Art Guild Show, Oklahoma City, and of course in the Artists of the Arbuckles in Sulphur.
She said she particularly enjoys painting young children in happy environments.
She is currently in several shows in southern Oklahoma, but examples of her work can be seen at the Artists of the Arbuckles Gallery, 330 West Muskogee St., Sulphur. The gallery is open noon-5 p.m. Mon. through Sat.
