The Cliff at Cedarvale will open Thursday and features a new style in dining.
The fine-dining restaurant celebrated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony Monday. It is located at 4565 Highway 77 South, a half-mile from Turner Falls Park. The Cliff will offer live music nightly, as well as a bar with liquor-by-the-drink, bottled and tap beer. The Cliff at Cedarvale is the first “liquor by the drink” establishment in the Turner Falls area, thanks to legislation passed this year.
The owners of the restaurant are Dr. Ronald Bulard, Ardmore, and Alvin Moody of New York City. The manager, Kristen Carr, is a Maysville native and graduate of OSU’s Hotel and Restaurant Administration program, ranked eighth in the nation. Tyrone Davis of New Orleans and Los Angeles is the featured executive chef.
Bulard, a former patron of “The old trout place,” said, “I remember sitting on the back porch eating trout fingers while enjoying the view, and now I can help other people create new memories of this historical place while eating great food.”
Bulard said it is the huge cliff wall facing the restaurant’s back patio that inspired the new restaurant’s name.
“That cliff has been witness to the Trail of Tears and countless cattle drives at the turn of the century. The waters of Honey Creek were once dammed to create an enormous swimming pool for a resort in the 30s and 40s and stocked with freshwater mountain trout in the 70s,” he said.
The Cliff at Cedarvale will be open from 4 p.m. to 2 a.m. every day but Tuesday. The doors open at 11 a.m. on Sunday for brunch with a special Sunday menu. Menu prices range from $8 to $25 and include steaks, chicken, tilapia, burgers, sandwiches, salads and desserts.
