Organizers of the annual Ardmore Thanksgiving Day feast are preparing for this year’s event.
The project that began in 1992 now feeds more than 1,000 people each Thanksgiving for free. This year’s dinner, which will be served between noon and 2 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day, will be at the Ardmore Elks Lodge.
The project is funded by donations. One of the organizers, Bob Sperry, said they still need people to help deliver meals to home-bound residents.
“Volunteers should show up at 9:30 a.m. to help with the carry-out meals,” he said.
Those wanting home delivery or take-out meals should call (580) 226-5741 and leave a name, address, telephone number and the number of meals needed, Sperry said. Take-out and delivered meals are prepared before the serving line opens. Donations may be mailed to M/E Thanksgiving Fund, P.O. Box 1262, Ardmore, OK 73401.
