The Market is open! Rain or shine, we’re open. Early fall produce is starting to show up — tender greens, radish, turnips, collard greens, fresh onions, sweet potatoes, fall squashes, lettuces, lots of pumpkins and gourds. Late-summer produce is still available also — tomatoes, eggplants, peppers, lots of okra, watermelons and squash.
At Lady Bug Farm, you will find turnip greens, beets, Swiss chard, radish, squash, basil, eggplant, peppers and cut flowers. Stop by Motes Produce and you will find squash, eggplant, peppers and more. Melvett’s Farm Fresh Vegetables has lots of okra, sweet potatoes, green tomatoes, pumpkins and gourds. Chris Woodruff of Woodruff Farm still has watermelons (orange and red meat), okra, peppers, pumpkins and gourds. Larry Winchester will be back this week with lots of tomatoes, as well as watermelons and cantaloupe.
Market Place On Broadway now accepts electronic benefit transfer cards, also known as EBT Cards/Debit and food stamp. To our EBT/SNAP customers, we encourage you to shop with your EBT/SNAP card. Fall Market hours are from 7:30 a.m. to noon Wednesdays and Saturdays. Shop early, because farmers often sell out before closing time.
