19-year-old man dies in accident on U.S. 70 east of Ardmore

A 19-year-old Oklahoma City man died at a local hospital as a result of injuries sustained in an accident at 12:52 a.m. Sunday.

Anthony Beaittie was traveling west on U.S. Highway 70 just east of Ardmore city limits.

According to Oklahoma Highway Patrol reports, his vehicle ran off the left side of the road, crossed the center median into eastbound traffic and left the road onto the shoulder.

Beaittie’s 1997 Chevy pickup continued in a broad slide, turning over twice and coming to rest on its wheels. He was ejected approximately 100 feet from the vehicle’s point of rest, according to OHP reports. Seatbelts were not in use.

He was transported by ambulance to the hospital, where he later died.
