Large and small disasters are happening more frequently and the American Red Cross of South Central Oklahoma located in Ardmore is in need of trained volunteers.
Chapter Manager Patricia Whitener wants people to be aware of the valuable community services the Red Cross provides every day to assist and aid people and prepare and respond in times of need.
“Volunteers are critical in our ability to respond, and waiting until there is a need is not the time to volunteer,” Whitener said. “We need your help on your schedule. Being trained and knowledgeable about the services we provide is critical in our ability to effectively respond.”
In preparation, the Red Cross is offering free certified disaster training 3:30-6:30 p.m. or 7-10 p.m. on Sept. 15 at the Red Cross office, 1006 Northwest Blvd.
