An Ardmore Police Department investigator is seeking an arrest warrant for a Dallas man believed to have been involved in the burglary of a local warehouse.
A number of boxed electronics, discovered during a search warrant conducted at a Dallas residence Tuesday may be part of the truckload of items stolen locally, according to Cpl. John Randolph, APD Public Information officer. The unidentified suspect is currently being detained by Dallas officers on a Texas warrant.
Detective Chad Anthony, APD Criminal Investigation Division, traveled to Dallas Tuesday and participated in the search warrant at the suspect’s residence. Subsequently, the suspect was interviewed by Anthony.
Randolph said information gained during the interview is being used to obtain a warrant for the man’s arrest and his return to Carter County District Court.
“We will be applying for the arrest warrant Thursday,” Randolph said. “We hope to have it by Friday or at the latest Monday.”
Anthony has been working with Dallas police since a semi truck and trailer stolen in Ardmore and loaded with merchandise stolen from the warehouse was recovered in Dallas within hours of the heist.
While the truck was recovered shortly after the burglary occurred, the person behind the wheel and a passenger escaped.
Randolph said the driver and passenger abandoned the truck that was being pursued by Dallas officers during a thunderstorm.
While the driver and the passenger managed to flee under cover of the storm, the ongoing investigation on both sides of the Red River led to the suspect becoming a primary target of the probe and Tuesday’s search warrant at his Dallas residence.
Ironically, Anthony’s investigation of the Circuit City Distribution Center burglary also led to the arrest of an employee of another local warehouse in an unrelated case.
George K. Hunt, a Best Buy employee, was snagged on Aug. 18 when Anthony discovered he was taking electronics from his job and selling them on eBay.
Hunt is charged with embezzlement. His case is pending.
