State Sen. Todd Lamb, R-Edmond, was in Ardmore Friday to discuss his candidacy for lieutenant governor.
Lamb, who serves the voters of Senate District 47, was first elected in 2004. He was re-elected without opposition in 2008. He served as the majority floor leader in the Senate during this past legislative session.
A graduate of Oklahoma State University with a law degree from Oklahoma City University’s School of Law, Lamb served in Gov. Frank Keating’s administration, was a special agent in the Secret Service, was on the staff of U.S. Sen. Don Nickles and worked as a petroleum landman and an adjunct college professor. He is general counsel for an energy and wireless company in Edmond in addition to his legislative responsibilities.
Lamb said he wants to be an “aggressive ambassador” for Oklahoma and its economy. His three-pronged approach to strengthening the state’s economy includes supporting the small businesses and industries already operating in the state, job recruitment and tourism.
“There is a Lieutenant Governors Small Business Task Force,” Lamb said. “I would retain that to continue to interact with small businesses.”
Lamb said he would work hard to improve the state’s image throughout the nation and abroad.
“Oklahoma is a great place to raise a family, a great place to expand your already existing business or relocate your business if you are living outside our state and offers a low cost of living and high quality of life,” he said. “We inside Oklahoma know that already, but we need to share that outside our state.”
The pro-life movement supporter announced his candidacy in Oklahoma City last week and said his campaign is off to a good start. Nickles and Sandridge Energy CEO Tom Ward are his campaign chairmen, and Casey Healey Kilblane of Davis is one of his campaign statewide chairs.
